Installing jmeter is just about unzipping version in a folder and using it. Regarding non ending threads, as per Felix previous answer weeks ago, you didn’t set connect and read timeout on your Http Request, as a result if a connection hangs due to non responsive server, the corresponding thread ends up being stuck waiting infinitely for response. Set connect and read timeout on HTTP request default element so that it applies to all HTTP Requests and this problem will be sorted out. As of now, there is no evidence of any issue in JMeter and your assumption about lot of bugs in JMeter is pointless.
