I really consider this a bug that we're inconsistent here (in 2.2.x). I would
really like to fix this but I'm somehow afraid that this would break existing
solutions and therefore we should rather accept that inconsistency for the
2.2.x branch. WDYT? Apply my patch or let it be for 2.2.x and life with this
inconsistency till 3.x?
