There appears to be problems with some pom files of the below form:
"[ERROR] Failed to execute goal
org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-release-plugin:2.4.2:prepare (default-cli) on
project karaf: Error reading POM: Error on line 9: An invalid XML character
(Unicode: 0x0) was found in the comment."
