The solution for KARAF-4241 seems to break the clean at least on linux system
(I tested on linux only).
There is a report, that it is also broken on Win7:

For the linux script:
The wildcard (don't know why two instead of one is used) is also in the quoted
argument, so it is not evaluated by the shell.
On linux systems "hidden" files (files starting with a dot) are handled
separately and not matched by the wildcard at all.
For Linux systems I would use:
{code:shell}
rm -Rf "$KARAF_DATA"/{.[^.],.??*,*}
{code:shell}
