Under Windows 7 the environment variable {{karaf.etc}} points to 
{{C:\Users\myuser\Desktop\apache-karaf-4.1.0-SNAPSHOT\bin\..\etc}} causing 
inconsistencies when the canoncial path respresentation gets used.
