This is mostly done, except for a limit on the size of a binary column.

This one's a bit trickier than the others -- have to figure out the right spot 
to put the validation. Needs to be some time after the batch is decoded, and 
also late enough that other valid operations in the batch can still succeed, 
even if the too-big one is rejected.
