It seems, at least in my case, that RPC connections are sometimes closing to
the "socket read timeout" nonsense. This seems to affect some in-flight scan
request, and then it tries to send it a second time with the same sequence ID.
The server receives both and then fails the second since the call sequence has
already been used.
In general we really need to clean up the retry behavior and layering in the
Java client since this failure is totally uninterpretable, and the "socket read
timeout" thing makes no sense to begin with.
