When running in VirtualBox, it's important to enable SSE4 pass-through to avoid
getting an error that SSE4 is not supported:

We should add a sentence to the error saying something like "If you are running
within a virtual machine, you may need to enable SSE4.2 pass-through" which is
enough that someone googling it would get the answer. We may also want to add
it to troubleshooting docs somewhere.
