Yes, we are looking to register our own metrics (and tracing) using built-in 
Solr metrics and tracing features if possible.  The kind of metrics we want to 
expose are RED (*R*ate, *E*rror, *D*uration) metrics against any of our custom 
extension points in Solr such as QParserPlugins, TokenFilters, 
TokenFilterFactory,  etc.  The ultimate goal is for these metrics to show up in 
Prometheus and Jaeger.
