I disagree with the spirit of this comment. I'd have done this work, 
irrespective of someone funding this development. For me, it is as much a hobby 
as much a job. Only as much of commercial interests should be supported within 
Solr as is healthy/useful for the community in general; not more. In this case, 
the interests of our employer is directly aligned with community's interests.

Having this plugin system will ensure that commercial entities can easily 
maintain, deploy and open-source their implementations, thus contributing 
towards a healthy ecosystem. They won't need to pay their way into polluting 
Solr, as has happened in the past.
