[~sokolov] I'm now looking at 8x and I see that this was only applied to 9.0. 
I'm not yet sure I'm going to backport the "fail on warning" to 8x (or Ant on 
9.0 for that matter).

But let's claim I do. Do you (or anyone else) want to weigh in on whether to 
backport this fix or just SuppressWarnings in 8x for Lucene?

I'll be happy to add the mindless SuppressWarnings if that's the consensus.
