+1, totally agree. This is a huge deal.
bq. Wouldn't a SIP be a better fit for this?
I think SIP process is too slow (or doesn't work), and we want to move fast
with this initiative (ideally, prepare the ground work for having first party
packages by the next release 8.7). As per our discussions, David, we reached
consensus. Also, Jan is on board. If all of us in the community is on board
with the overall design, we can start fleshing out the lower level details and
then possibly some prototype.
