I was also pleasantly surprised to see how well maintained this compiler is. It is nice to see things like JDK16 support, as opposed to error-prone which reaches into java internals and seemingly has no plan for JDK16 support at all! Also, they seem to pay attention to the performance especially, as it impacts a lot of IDE users.
