I also looked for slowness caused by possible calls to `MemorySegmentIndexInput#preload()` but "preload" nowhere exists in the perf dump's stack traces. So I don't think https://github.com/apache/lucene/commit/dd3267695484e1f14eb09833574db951b8b347c0 plays a role.
