Although it's a long ways away (as of this note), it's not too early to talk
about what changes will come to the logo with version 3.0. The most frequent
topic of conversation surrounding the logo seems to be changing the text of the
logo to use an open source font. The first file attached to this issue includes
a few variations using the open source font Bitstream Vera Sans, condensed to
78% width. This very closely approximates the existing logo. My suggestion is
that we start a discussion of what we want to keep from the existing OOo logo,
what we want to change/add, and so on, and then get variations based on that
discussion from anyone who wants to submit them. Once more variations are added,
we can decide which ones we like and then start all over again using those
variations. Eventually, we should reach a consensus (hopefully!) one what logo
to recommend.
