Jason, there are two reasons for this:
1. I have already used Commons Lang because Guava's {{Preconditions}} are very
limited.
2. The ony feature used from Guava is collections.
Guava duplicates many stuff in already existing dependencies and is quite big.
We'd also reduce the overall size of Maven.
