As Robert said, use {{maven-compiler-plugin:3.6.1}}. If it works you may want 
to open a pull request in GitHub with an update of {{Surefire1265Java9IT}} and 
the POM, and open a new jira issue as a task. In the IT we should use another 
java.home for jdk9.
