Kenney Westerhof commented on MECLIPSE-140:
-------------------------------------------

I'm not sure wheter this should be fixed. If you're using PDE you have to abide
by the OSGI versioning limitations,
so you should version your projects appropriately. If you manually convert the
version string here without anybody knowing
about it, it may be necessary to change it in other places too; You'd possibly
get other weird errors when you're expecting
the version specified in a pom.

Btw, it's perfectly legal to have '2.0.0.SNAPSHOT' as a version in a pom.

I'm tending towards 'won't fix'

> SNAPSHOT plugin versions are not supported for PDE projects. Error in

> If the version declared in your pom.xml is 2.0.0-SNAPSHOT then the following
> is written to MANIFEST.MF:
> Bundle-Version: 2.0.0-SNAPSHOT
> Eclipse complains:
> assertion failed: The service (3rd) component of plug-in version identifier,
> "2.0.0-SNAPSHOT", must be numeric.
> Is the resolution to strip the "-SNAPSHOT" string off the end of the version?
