clear separation of generated things and source things

it would be beneficial for:
* source code management
* backup
* space management
if there would be a possibility to set one location where generated/built
things go, maybe even as a "company rule" like "output directory = /var/tmp.
currently it is a finding/grepping/deleting/ignorefile editing to reach this.
if this is already possible a better hint in the documentation might be
appropriate.
