Maybe I misunderstand you but this is exactly what I expected. Filtering should 
only being set for files which can be handled. for example excel files and any 
kind of binary file should simply not being filtered...
There are two solutions.

The simplest thing is to define two directories: 
{{src/main/filtered-resources}} which obviously is used to put in files which 
will be filtered and a second directory {{src/main/resources}} which is not 
filtered. This is the way I do most of the time..on the other hand you can 
[configure some extensions to be 
 like this:
