Short and honest answer: there is nothing planned and based on real hot issues
this plugin has to wait for a while. As you're requesting the release of a new
feature, I'd strongly advice you to test it first (to prevent possible
disappointments once released and the time it takes to fix it).
The steps:
- fork or download https://github.com/apache/maven-release-plugin
- release it with a unique version, e.g. 3.0.0-M1-NickCross
Also write feedback in Jira regarding the maven-release-semver-policy. Does it
work as expected or not?
