Assembly goal does not handle ear files with zip format

When using the assembly goal and creating a zip file with a dependency on an
ear the ear is lost when installed.
However, when the directory-inline goal is used the ear is included, but with a
file name that has extra characters. I don't know if the ZIP format has a
problem with ear files. Another reason could be that the ear is currently a
SNAPSHOT version.
I haven't found any documentation on this issue.
