I don't agree here. We are talking about 64 byte for SHA512. IMHO always adding 
both SHA1 and MD5 is no longer necessary. Maybe just using SHA512 instead of 
SHA1 in addition to MD5 (for older clients) is a reasonable default. That way 
we are only talking about 56 byte more for checksums.
