I have a multi-module project and use the ${revision} variable for versioning.
The assembly plugin execution happens in one of the child modules.
root pom:
{code:java}
[...]
<groupId>group</groupId>
<artifactId>root</artifactId>
<version>${revision}</version>
[...]
<properties>
<revision>1.0.0-SNAPSHOT</revision>
</properties>
[...]{code}
child pom:
{code:java}
[...]
<parent>
<groupId>group</groupId>
<artifactId>root</artifactId>
<version>${revision}</version>
</parent>
[...]
{code}
The build is successful, but I get some warnings and I can see that the
${revision} variable is used instead of 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT

[WARNING] Failed to build parent project for group:child:jar:1.0.0-SNAPSHOT
Could not find artifact group:root:pom:${revision} in central
{code}
