I had to search without any references from here, but I believe the changes are
[already in
master|https://github.com/apache/maven-dependency-plugin/commit/cf6fdeb78869c95401f4aa7e663b49cc36da3ec9]
and not just released yet.
We can transition this to a resolved state as well with a release date for
version '3.2.0'.
