Tim Morrow commented on SCM-320:
--------------------------------
I'm not really sure how the SVN provider interacts with Subversion, but I'm
using SVN client version 1.3.0.
I have another Linux box (Ubuntu, 32-bit) with Subversion client 1.4.3 that
does _not_ exhibit the problem for the same project/repository/path.

> I'm using Maven 2.0.5. After the recent update to scm plugin version 1.0, my
> updates from a subversion repository fail. I get this:
> {noformat}
> $ mvn scm:update
> [INFO] [scm:update]
> [INFO] Executing: svn --non-interactive update
> [INFO] Working directory: /the/right/path
> [ERROR] Provider message:
> [ERROR] The svn command failed.
> [ERROR] Command output:
> [ERROR] svn: error: cannot set LC_ALL locale
> svn: error: environment variable LANG is not set
> svn: error: please check that your locale name is correct
> [INFO]

> [ERROR] BUILD ERROR
> [INFO]
> ------------------------------------------------------------------------
> [INFO] Command failed.The svn command failed.
> [INFO]
> ------------------------------------------------------------------------
> {noformat}
> * Note that running "svn update" from the command line works just fine.
> * I did try setting the LANG environment variable to "en" then "en_US"
> locale, but that didn't work either.
> * If I set the maven-scm-plugin version to 1.0-rc1 or 1.0-beta-4, it works
> fine.
