The _project_ element's _name_ element is not specified in the {_}POM
Reference{_}. The only mention of it is in [the _More Project Information_
section|https://maven.apache.org/pom.html#More_Project_Information], which
contains:
{quote}name: Projects tend to have conversational names, beyond the artifactId.
The Sun engineers did not refer to their project as "java-1.5", but rather just
called it "Tiger". Here is where to set that value.

It should at least indicate whether it's mandatory, and ideally provide
examples.
