   The starteam provider does provide comment in the change set.
   but continuum does not display it. To prove it, go to one of your starteam 
maven project and run
   
       mvn scm:changelog
   
   The results you see is a list ot ChangeSet return to continuum
   
   It is displayed by ChangeSet.toString().  All info are there
   
   BTW, you mentioned your host is linux? really? thought it only works with 
windows. If so please run the starteam command line you see
   as part of the log, and send in some output of the command.  could be linux 
has different output than windows
