Thanks for documenting this here... it is a very arcane thing... why is
there no parameter for the scm plugin that can be set in the POM itself or a
system property? Having to do this via a file is nice because it persists, but
you do it once and then it is forgotten and on the next computer it takes hours
to find this again...
