Hello, I investigated this on `maven-4.0.x`. The referenced `compat/maven-compat/.../DefaultArtifactHandler.java` does not exist in the branch, and the current `DefaultArtifactHandler` implementation does not contain the described `delegate` field or null-returning methods.
