`maven-settings` and `maven-support` both generated `org.apache.maven.settings.v4` from the same `settings.mdo`, so the two published jars each contained the same 11 byte-identical classes. Enforcer's `banDuplicateClasses` flags them in 4.0.0-rc-7 (reported on dev@). `maven-settings` now depends on `maven-support` for these classes, as `maven-model` and `maven-toolchain-model` already do. The split package would also block `maven-settings` from running on the module path once #12135 exports `org.apache.maven.settings.v4` from `maven-support`. Verified: `mvn install -pl compat/maven-settings -amd` → green; the built distribution's `lib/` has `settings/v4` classes only in `maven-support`. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
