gnodet opened a new issue, #13693:
URL: https://github.com/apache/maven/issues/13693

   ## Context

`impl/maven-classworlds` (introduced in #13490) retains the
`org.codehaus.classworlds` backward-compat package that was present in the
original `plexus-classworlds`. This package has been deprecated since
`plexus-classworlds` 2.5.2 (2014) in favour of
`org.codehaus.plexus.classworlds`.

Dropping it from `maven-classworlds` is currently blocked by
[eclipse-sisu/sisu-project#280](https://github.com/eclipse-sisu/sisu-project/pull/280):
three classes in `org.eclipse.sisu.plexus` still hold compiled references to
the legacy `org.codehaus.classworlds` package:

   - `AbstractComponentConfigurator` — reflection-based dispatch to a legacy
`configureComponent(..., org.codehaus.classworlds.ClassRealm)` overload
   - `ClassRealmConverter` — `canConvert` branch and constructor for
`org.codehaus.classworlds.ClassRealm`
   - `AbstractComponentFactory` — legacy `newInstance` overload via
`ClassRealmAdapter`

   ## Action

   Once
[eclipse-sisu/sisu-project#280](https://github.com/eclipse-sisu/sisu-project/pull/280)
is merged and a new Sisu release is available:

   1. Bump the Sisu dependency in Maven
   2. Remove the `org.codehaus.classworlds` compat package from
`impl/maven-classworlds`

   ## References

   - #13490 — internalizes `plexus-classworlds` into Maven
   -
[eclipse-sisu/sisu-project#280](https://github.com/eclipse-sisu/sisu-project/pull/280)
 — removes the Sisu references (blocker)
   -
[codehaus-plexus/plexus-classworlds#141](https://github.com/codehaus-plexus/plexus-classworlds/pull/141)
 — original attempt to drop the compat layer upstream (reverted due to Sisu
