   ### New feature, improvement proposal

   Putting a method filter in `<excludes>` fails the build today:

   ```
   Method filter prohibited in includes|excludes parameter:
**/SomeTest#testMethod
   ```

   The same pattern works in `excludesFile` since 3.0.0-M6 (SUREFIRE-1964), so
skipping one test method means creating a separate file just for that line. It
would be simpler to allow it directly:

   ```xml
   <excludes>
     <exclude>**/SomeTest#testMethod</exclude>
   </excludes>
   ```

   A typical case is running tests from a jar with `dependenciesToScan` (a TCK,
for example), where you can't touch the test source and just want to skip a
known failure.

   The docs could also be clearer: nothing says method filters are rejected in
`<excludes>`, and the `test` javadoc only says it overrides
`includes`/`excludes`, while it also ignores `includesFile` and `excludesFile`.
