This feature is already implemented in Maven 4 as of PR #12957 (merged 2026-08-30), which fixed the related issue #12660. The relevant code is in `impl/maven-impl/src/main/java/org/apache/maven/impl/model/DefaultDependencyManagementImporter.java`: when a `dependencyManagement` entry is declared locally without a version, Maven 4 now inherits the version from an imported BOM while preserving all other local settings (exclusions, scope, etc.). Closing as fixed in Maven 4.
