mvn deploy to an svn repository makes a separate checkin for every file deployed

I have the below code in my build/extensions section. When I do "mvn deploy -N"
on a single pom.xml file I get 9 commits on the central repository.
A real project with four modules takes 27 minutes to fully deploy to the
repository and does around 100 commits..
