+1 on reusing the --credential parameter and the Credential protobuf.
Credential requires a principal, but not a secret (password), so ticket-based
authentication (which has a principal but no explicit password) can still
function in this way.
Anything that doesn't even use a principal is not authenticating _as_ anybody,
and therefore wouldn't really fit the existing authentication pattern.
