Resolution: Cannot Reproduce
I am currently unsure what is happening here. After investigating a little, I
did see that patch got applied correctly but still the error hints that it was
not.
Fast forward a few weeks....
After testing distcheck on OSX again over the last two days, I was unable to
replicate the failure - - the problem magically resolved itself. Closing the
ticket for others to reopen if they still stumble across this issue.
