Gabriel Hartmann commented on MESOS-4199:
-----------------------------------------
No, not sufficient. The case which is breaking right now is the disk usage
reporting of HDFS. We launch nodes (journal, namenode, datanodes) with
persistent volumes as backing storage. HDFS itself (not the framework) is
querying the filesystem to determine the remaining available space and coming
up with a number equivalent to total filesystem free space. It has no concept
of some separate system which is governing actual usage/free space.
Modifying HDFS, or any application, to change the way it interacts with the
filesystem dependent on something other than the OS it's running on is highly
undesirable. We would need to maintain some fork of HDFS probably... Bad
times.

> Reserved Disk Resources / Persistent Volumes should report the correct
> usage/free space statistics. They currently report the space of whichever
> volume/file system the persitent volume symlink points to.
