Tom James commented on METRON-193:
----------------------------------
Hi James,
Sorry to be so late. Hope it is better to be late than never.
Being a developer, it was over my head to calculate at what rate the packets
will be flowing.
So I had to go the hardway. Created the packet capture driver (NDIS6.3), linked
it to Kafka to measure the inflow rate.
it looks like a 10Mbps rate is fine to startwith.

> Metron uses DPDK for packet capture. It seems DPDK does not have official
> support for Windows. If we can enable Metron PCAP module to extract packets
> from Windows environment as well, that would be a nice addition.
> Right now, I'm thinking of a few possible solution,
> 1. WinPcap based pacpy
> 2. Dedicated native pcap client based on WinPcap libraries
> 3. NDIS/WPF based driver/client for dedicated pcap support.
> Please come forward with any suggestions, queries and support.
