Joseph Witt commented on NIFI-2458:
-----------------------------------
the initial query is helpful because it lets us learn things like
timing/initial seeding for query. But yes I too tend to cancel it because I've
learned it is too slow for my liking. Some of the recent changes for prov make
that faster which is good. Though i do tend to think if we can get to the
point of avoiding the intial query for generic prov searches that would be
best. We def want it when right click on a component and asking for provenance
as that has an implied context. That said, this JIRA appears to be focused on
fixing bad handling in general of prov query/cancel/retry logic so perhaps if
this idea we're discussing has some traction it should spur off a new jira.

> I right-clicked on a Processor and choose to view provenance events. I then
> clicked Cancel on the progress bar dialog. I then clicked 'search' and added
> a new parameter to the search (added a value for 'Relationship'). When I
> click Search, I get an error message: Message body is malformed. Unable to
> map into expected format.
