Matt Burgess commented on NIFI-8209:
------------------------------------

The "fix" would break anyone using Neo4J version <3.5 and that's what we
currently support so we couldn't just upgrade the driver. I think instead we
should look at adding a new controller service that uses the latest driver at
the time, your customer would just have to switch over to the new service (and
unless the new service is small in size, they might need to download the NAR
separately from the normal Apache NiFi binary distribution, we have reached our
size limit so we can't add any more big NARs by default, they often have to be
downloaded separately from Apache.

> The Apache Nifi 1.12.1 Neo4JCypherClientService controller service hangs
> indefinitely attempting to connect to Neo4j 4.2.3

> The latest Neo4j Controller Service in Nifi from the graph bundle has been
> built using neo4j-java-driver v1.6.2 and is not compatible with Neo4j 4.x.
> Enabling the controller fails in reaching the Neo4j database.
