But just to be sure I have just deleted the files and folders and tried to create them again. 1) From Windows Explorer I created a new folder and file: æøå/æøå.txt ListFTP can not list non-existing folder ??? From the Linux server running NIFI, I tried to connect to the ftp server via both Linux built-in ftp and lftp (installed) ftp: also list files and folders like ??? lftp: list files and folders correctly 2) From within NIFI. I created a GenerateFlowFile process and added 2 Properties: filename=æøå.txt" and path=æøå -> PutFTP with UTF-8 set to true ListFTP process can read both the folder and the file. But if you look at the folder with Windows Explorer, the foldername looks like this: æøå/æøå.txt   ????? (Microsucks ) From the Linux server running NIFI, I tried to connect to the ftp server via both Linux built-in ftp and lftp (installed) ftp: list files and folders like ?????? lftp: list files and folders just like Windows Explorer If I set the UTF-8 to false in the PutFTP process, it works like it created it through Windows Explorer. So there are definitely something wrong with Microsoft... Arghhh... So Sorry Paul Grey  So if I disable utf-8 from both PutFTP and ListFTP, they works great with Microsoft regarding Danish characters but not with Arabic. If I set utf-8 to true, it works great for NIFI with both Danish and Arabic characters but it does not works with Windows Explorer.   If I use FileZilla Server and set the processors in nifi to use utf-8 everything works. Manually created 2 files within Windows Explorer (one in danish and one in arabic). ListFTP list them correctly. Created a folder and file with PutFTP.
