Mockito [4.0.0|https://github.com/mockito/mockito/releases/tag/v4.0.0] removes
several deprecated components and provides a baseline of support for Java 8.
Mockito should be upgraded from version 3 to the latest version 4 on both main
and support branches, and then the main branch can be evaluated for upgrade to
Mockito 5, which requires Java 11 as the minimum version.
