[~joewitt] yes, exactly - I'm certainly in favour of upgrading Elasticsearch
dependencies!
Knowing whether such an upgrade would break anything (e.g. OpenSearch access)
would be useful **but** not a blocker to doing the upgrade. I keep hoping to
find the time to try some tests, but haven't so far had the opportunity.
I have no problem with someone simply performing the dependency upgrade
(provided the Integration/System Tests continue to work, of course), and the
community can deal with any breakages that occur. Doing this as part of the
NiFi 2.x move would probably make sense too - a potential breaking change for
the community (but there's no reason this couldn't be done in the 1.x line if
needed too).
