   Changed parameter to reference in cd1fd88b37b81b1852928546b042491154b4dc01
   
   In this case I would keep the string error value, as the return value is 
only used once and it needs an error message, introducing an error code would 
only result one more step of retrieving the error message without any 
additional value.
