Thank you for your input [~exceptionfactory] ! I found it very valuable and 
reworked the implementation.

For the package name, I would stick with 'componentstate' since there are other 
states (cluster-, validation-, nodestate, etc.) and I want to make sure it is 
clear what we are referring to.
