   # Summary

   [NIFI-15377](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-15377) Updates the
project [infrastructure YAML](https://github.com/apache/infrastructure-asfyaml)
configuration to require [commit
signing](https://docs.github.com/en/authentication/managing-commit-signature-verification/signing-commits)
for future changes to the `main` branch.

Signing adds a standard layer of verification for future commits to the
primary project branch, avoiding potential ambiguity related to authorship.

This restriction aligns the configuration with the [NiFi
API](https://github.com/apache/nifi-api) repository policy.

Additional changes include limiting the enabled GitHub merge buttons to the
`Squash and merge` button, which is the standard and preferred approach,
avoiding merge commits and maintaining a simplified commit history.
