I was curious to see if I could replicate some of these issue you are seeing so
I fired up the latest master and here are the stats I was able to gather:
1 - second startup 8 sec (This stat is not really relevant when discussing
performance of the NiFi web app.)
2- ff mem 328 MB (This may depend on the version of ff as well as what plugins
you are running with your browser and not necessarily indicative of a
performance issue in the NiFi web app)
3- net transfer on drag-drop of a processor was between 4ms and 6ms
4- performance of 3 drag-drops of one processor was approximately 4ms for each
with no delay
When I do nothing ff does nothing and I am not seeing any delays when dragging.
I am also not seeing any delay in the context menu.
I see you are using an old version of ff....have you tried updating it? Have
you tried the latest version of NiFi?

What version of firefox are you using? Have you tried the latest version of
NiFi?
