The more I think through this the less I agree.  Consider a flow where  data is 
sourced from system Foo at time X.  We decompress the data then we send the 
decompressed output to two different paths one to deliver to system Bar and 
system Baz.  That we cloned that object to go down two paths is not more/less 
valuable on either path.  No more or less true.  We should not be giving one 
path an arbitrarily different entry date as it is referring to the 'same thing'.
