    I'm a bit concerned about the potential heap utilization that this could 
involve. If the regex is .*, for example, this would return millions of 
objects. Perhaps we should break out of the do/while if we hit some threshold 
(say 1,000 or 10,000 or something) elements, and then repeat the process until 
we have nothing left to remove.
